Tasks of the out-patient treatment:- patient-management
- Consultation of patients and relatives giving treatment advice
- Organisation of in-patient and partial-in-patient admissions within the Central Institute for Mental Health (ZI)
- Mediation between the wards and practitioners
- Mediation between health authorities (public health department), the police and the socio-psychiatric service
Out-patient treatment possibilities for psychiatric patients

- frequently chronic/resistant to treatment with multiple psychiatric and social problems as well as psychiatric comorbidity
- Cooperation with psychiatric practitioners and psychotherapist, surrounding hospitals
- Implementation of emergency intervention, long-term treatment and ambulatory short term therapy
- Psychotherapeutic treatment: Implementation of behaviour therapies. Group therapy, e. g. social competence training, progressive muscle relaxation according to Jacobson and alcohol-competence-group
Social work

- Psychosocial advice and care of patients and their relatives
- Socio-economic basal coverage: Mediation and implementation of medical, social and professional rehabilitation, clarification of requirements for claims towards social security institutions
- Social, individual help with the emphasis on living, work (including rehabilitation as part of the "Mannheimer start programme"), leisure time, finances
- Mediation of external services and institutions aids
