Job Description

The phone rings a storm, your boss wants something from you every two minutes and an important bill seems untraceable. But nothing can upset you. You have an overview and it is fun to organize your office routine. Then your training as an office management assistant seems to suit you. It can be used in many areas of a company, for example in management assistance, personnel administration or public relations. In general, the job profile includes commercial-administrative assistance and secretarial tasks.

Your tasks at first sight

  • write business letters, minutes and reports
  • prepare data as well as create invoices and presentations
  • Coordinate and monitor appointments
  • Preparation and follow-up of meetings, conferences and conventions
  • Processing orders
  • provide customers and colleagues with information on operational procedures and structures
  • Procure office supplies and monitor stock levels
  • ensure a smooth office workflow

Duration of Training

3 years, dual vocational training

School Requirements

A secondary school leaving certificate or a level of education recognised as equivalent

Training Contents

Training to become a businessman or businesswoman for office management is dual training, i.e. theory takes place in vocational school and practice in the company. As a rule, the training lasts three years. In this commercial apprenticeship you will be responsible for a wide variety of office tasks, from accounting and activities in the area of accounting to customer communication and various secretarial tasks.

  • Dealing with modern information and communication systems
  • Rules of internal and external correspondence
  • Professional use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs
  • Basics of Human Resources, Accounting, and Order Control
  • All organizational tasks
