No good care without qualified nursing staff
On the initiative of Heinz Häfner, the first training centre in Germany is founded in Heidelberg, where nursing staff can train to become psychiatric specialists while working. The concept was trend-setting and was adopted in many places in Germany in the following years and decades.
Today, the CIMH still offers its nursing staff a two-year, in-service and state-recognised training course in psychiatric nursing. The CIMH organises the course together with the Psychiatric Centre Nordbaden in Wiesloch, the Klinikum am Weissenhof and the Klinikum Schloss Winnenden. You can read more about this here.
You can also read an interview with our Director of Nursing Doris Borgwedel on psychiatric nursing, published in the CIMH Annual Report 2022/23.
