Description
Our research activities are grouped into three overlapping theme clusters:
- Etiology and course of psychiatric disorders during the lifespan ("from childhood to old age“)
Research groups: Mental Health Services Research, Psychiatric Epidemiology, Schizophrenia Research - Neuronal Plasticity (the inherent ability of individual nerve cells or entire brain regions to change their characteristics depending on their use)
Research groups: Systems Neuroscience in Psychiatry (SNiP), Translational Imaging, Biochemistry, Animal Models in Psychiatry, Computational Neuroscience, Sleep Research - Development and evaluation of treatment methods (molecular level, animal models, studies in humans)
Research groups: Stress-Related Disorders, Molecular Schizophrenia Research, Centre of Excellence on Research in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, ADHD in Adults, Forensic Psychiatry
The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy aims to integrate all three research clusters with excellent clinical practice in order to achieve a better understanding and treatment of mental disorders.
In close cooperation with the other medical and research departments within the CIMH, renowned research institutes in the region as well as in the context of numerous national and international research cooperations this model is undergoing continuous development.
