The institute is to be located in the city centre

The study trips abroad had strengthened Heinz Häfner and his colleagues' conviction that the model institute should be located in the city centre. The squares H 4, H 5, J 4 and J 5 were therefore now focussed on. At the time, there were 353 flats and 46 businesses in the old buildings there. Lord Mayor Reschke regarded the establishment of the institute at this location as the start of urban redevelopment and pushed the project forward.
