About me
In mammals, maternal behavior is essential for survival and well-being of the offspring and is closely linked to the oxytocin (OT) system. While the peripheral effects of OT for maternal behavior (such as milk ejection and uterus contractions) have been studied exceedingly, the functions of OT particularly in higher order brain areas are less well established. Therefore, I plan to investigate the role of OT in cortical processing in the context of maternal care by using viral, anatomical, physiological and behavioral techniques. By this I hope to advance our basic neurobiological understanding about the intimate relationship between the mother and its infant.
Eddy holds a PhD in Neurobiology and an MD in translational Oncology. He currently works as a postdoc in our team after being awarded with a Walter Benjamin Position by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
