About me

I am currently in the final stages of my PhD in the Department of Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. My thesis focuses on resilience processes and psychosocial factors in the context of sports injuries. After graduating from the University of Saarland (M.Sc. Psychology), I started my academic career as a researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research in Mainz, where I was mainly involved in developing a scientifically grounded online platform to promote psychological resilience. At the same time, I completed my postgraduate training as an applied sports psychologist.

While working and pursuing my PhD at Johannes Gutenberg University, I had the opportunity to combine my research interests in resilience with my passion for competitive sports. Throughout my PhD, I have conducted cross-sectional and prospective longitudinal studies examining psychological protective factors and mental health in the aftermath of a specific stressor that many athletes face: sports injuries. Building on the present studies, I am looking forward to translate the findings into practical interventions, extend and expand this line of research at the Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim, and bridge the gap between science and practice.

Tabea holds an MSc in Psychology and is currently working on her PhD in (Sport-)Psychology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Besides that, she is also working with athletes and coaches as a sports psychologist in practice. She joined our lab as a researcher in March 2025.
