EBRAINS is a digital infrastructure for collaborative brain research in the EU that builds on the Human Brain Project (HBP). The platform provides digital tools and services, which can be used to address challenges in brain research and brain-inspired technology development. The tools assist scientists to collect, analyse, share, and integrate brain data, and to perform modelling and simulation of brain function. Its overarching goal is to accelerate research aimed at understanding human brain function in health and disease.
The CIMH, one of Germany’s leading psychiatric research institutions, is a new associate member of EBRAINS and looking forward to support and participate in the collaborative network. This will create fruitful synergies, including with the new “German Centre of mental health” (DZPG), an upcoming research network aimed at improving mental health of which CIMH is a part.

Modeling and analysis expertise

“Progress in translation for mental disorders critically depends on an in depth understanding of brain function and its alterations. Here, we look forward to contribute large-scale imaging databases, modeling and analysis expertise to EBRAINS. This impact will be scaled up through in-depth collaboration with our partner institutions in the DZPG”, says Prof. Dr. Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg, Head of the Executive Board of CIMH and Medical Director of the Clinic of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at CIMH.

“CIMH brings with its world-class expertise in psychiatry and psychotherapy but also cognitive and clinical neuroscience” says CEO of EBRAINS Paweł Świeboda. “It combines active clinical inpatient and outpatient programmes and has pioneered a number of approaches, including the imaging of fMRI-endophenotypes in humans with risk genes for psychiatric disorders. I am convinced that the CIMH will be a greatly valuable member of EBRAINS.”
