Lettering “Don't give AIDS a chance”

As part of the global “Fast-Track Cities” initiative, patients can be tested at the CIMH.

The Fast-Track Cities initiative, which the city of Mannheim has joined, is an alliance of cities that has set itself the goal of ending the HIV/AIDS pandemic in cities by 2030. In the context of this global program, the CIMH would like to motivate its patients to get tested – even without a specific indication.

In future, posters on the wards and in other areas close to patients will draw their attention to the fact that HIV infection is easy to treat.

They will encourage HIV testing at the CIMH and provide information about the anonymous and free consultation at the Mannheim City Health Department.

The goals of the Fast-Track Cities initiative:

  • 95 percent of all HIV infections are detected
  • 95 percent of all detected HIV infections are in treatment
  • 95 percent of treated HIV infections are not infectious
  • 0 percent stigma of people with (affected by) HIV

Mannheim has developed an action plan as part of the initiative. Initially, educational campaigns are planned especially for young people, extended testing services and monitoring of the targets set.

With its testing offer, the CIMH is not only making an active contribution to achieving the goals, but is also one of the pioneers among the city's local partners from administration, civil society and the healthcare sector with its specific measure.
