About me
I’m a PhD student in Michèle Wessa’s group, with whom I started my academic journey in 2020 in Mainz, and am now continuing it at NIMH in Mannheim.
I’m fascinated by what helps us stay #resilient when life gets stressful — and what makes some people bounce back more easily than others. In my research, I focus on #controllability, how having (or feeling like you have) control over stress can help us to better cope with it. For this, I use behavioral experiments in the lab, questionnaires, and also neuroimaging and psychophysiological recordings. I’m also part of the exciting #Moonshot Project, a cooperation with the National Institute for Science and Technology (QST) in Chiba, Japan. There, we investigate cross-cultural factors that improve resilience and help us stay maemuki (forward-looking) under difficult circumstances.
Before my PhD, I studied psychology with a focus on cognitive-affective neuroscience at TU Dresden and JGU Mainz.
I’m especially interested in how controllability and individual differences in locus of control and negative capability act at the neural level, and how these can translate into better prevention and mental health support.
