Main Medical Building J 5

Space for research close to the clinic

Funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Klaus Tschira Foundation.

The building, which was constructed in 1975, was renovated from the 3rd to the 7th floor. Since then, patients have had access to beautiful, modern rooms and wards. After completion of the new building J 4, the floors that have not yet been renovated will also undergo a renovation.

State-of-the-art research infrastructure

The focus of the modernisation measures was the establishment of the Centre for Innovative Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Research (ZIPP) on the ground floor and basement of the therapy building. The CIMH bundles and expands its research infrastructure here. By January 2019, the rooms had been converted to meet specific requirements. The ZIPP was ceremonially opened in autumn 2019.

New main entrance, admission and intensive care unit

The main entrance with reception area and the admission and intensive care units were also redesigned and moved into their modernised rooms on the ground floor in 2019.
