Moleculargenetic Laboratory
The molecular-genetic laboratory of the Department of Genetic Epidemiology in Psychiatry is provided with state-of-the-art equipment to perform genetic, epigenetic, and gene expression analyses. The equipment includes: MinION Mk1B (Oxford Nanopore Technologies), MiSeq (Illumina), PyroMark Q24 (Qiagen), and a Real-Time PCR-System QuantStudioTM 7 Flex (Applied Biosystems).
The service spectrum of the molecular-genetic laboratory comprises the analysis of single genetic markers like SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphism) or VNTRs (variable number of tandem repeats), epigenetic markers (DNA-methylation of CpG sites), single gene expression as well as targeted sequencing.
For genome-wide analyses, the laboratory cooperates with external partners (Life&Brain in Bonn and UMM in Mannheim).
