Moleculargenetic Laboratory

The moleculargenetic laboratory of the Department of Genetic Epidemiology in Psychiatry is provided with state-of-the-art equipment to perform genetic, epigenetic, and gene expression studies. The equipment consists of an Illumina MiSeq Next Generation Sequencing Sytsem, a Qiagen PyroMark Q24 Pyrosequencing System, and a QuantStudioTM 7 Flex Real-Time PCR-System.

The service spectrum of the moleculargenetic laboratory consists of the analysis of genetic single marker like SNPs  (single nucleotide polymorphism) or VNTRs (variable number of tandem repeats), of epigenetic markers (DNA-methylation), as well as of the expression of single genes.

For genome-wide analyses, the laboratory cooperates with extern partners (Life&Brain in Bonn and UMM in Mannheim)
