Song development as a creative way to transform negative feelings into something positive
What is it about?
A songwriting project lasting several weeks for young people with emotionally unstable personalities in cooperation with the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg
Our contribution
Following a pilot run, the CIMH support association is funding the second edition of this unique therapeutic program.
Background
At the Adolescent Center for Emotion Regulation Disorders (AZE) at the CIMH, adolescents and young adults with borderline and/or trauma-related disorders receive therapeutic help to deal with their severe emotional stress.
The focus here is on finding a positive way of dealing with overwhelming negative feelings. In addition to established therapy methods, the AZE team is always looking for new ways to strengthen those affected and open up perspectives for development and healing.
In collaboration with dedicated teachers and students from the Mannheim Pop Academy, a completely new, initially experimental offer was created: using the diverse possibilities of songwriting to work creatively with intense feelings, transform them into something positive and thus develop further.
It's great to see and hear how it has taken shape. Music as an opening, creative path, as an opportunity to try out new things with a lot of courage.
