About me
Jessica is a PhD student at the HITBR lab. She is also enrolled on the PhD programme at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Neurosciences (IZN) at the University of Heidelberg. She received her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees in Biotechnology and Bioprocess Development, respectively, with honours from the University of Applied Sciences in Mannheim. For her Master's thesis at the University of California, Berkeley, she investigated the role of specific microRNAs in the development of the mouse choroid plexus.
For her PhD research project, she is developing a high-throughput screening method for discovering drug targets for schizophrenia by utilising co-cultured induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cortical neurons and microglia. In her free time, she enjoys bouldering, hiking, crocheting and gaming.
