Info: Ana Zovko is a PhD student at the University of Heidelberg in the program of Interdisciplinary Center for Neuroscience. She is developing a protocol for the hiPSC differentiation into hypothalamic organoids enriched with Oxytocin neurons for the purpose of xenotransplantation into rodent models. This project a collaboration between HITBR and Depertment of Neuropeptide Research in Psychiatry at the Institute for Mental Health, combining the fields of stem-cell research and system-neuroscience.

 

She obtained her Bachelors degree from the University of J.J. Strossmayer in Osijek, and Masters degree in Experimental Biology from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. During that period, she worked at the Laboratory for Molecular Neurobiology and Neurochemistry at the Croatian Institute for Brain Research, and Laboratory for Neurodegerative desieses at the Ruder Boskovic Institute where she was investigating neuropathological markers of a heterozygous mouse model of Niemann-Pick type C desiese as her Masters thesis project. Besides research, an important part of her day-to-day life includes enjoying arts, great music, coffee and chocolate.
