The Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the CIMH has been certified as an IPT clinic by the German Society for Interpersonal Psychotherapy. IPT, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, is an evidence-based and realistic form of therapy for depression.

IPT is one of the most effective therapies for depression. It is a scientifically based method that focuses on the connection between psychological complaints and interpersonal relationships. The IPT therapists at the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the CIMH rely on this method in particular because of its pragmatic, real-life approach, which also involves family members in the treatment, for example.

Quality and sustainability of IPT treatment confirmed

With the certification as an IPT clinic, the German Society for Interpersonal Psychotherapy (DGIPT) confirms the high level of competence of the practitioners as well as the quality and sustainability of IPT treatment at the CIMH. The award also recognizes the clinic’s commitment to providing psychotherapeutic treatment that is scientifically sound and in line with guidelines.

The primary aim of the DGIPT (dg-ipt.de) is, on the one hand, to promote knowledge of the method and the dissemination of IPT. On the other hand, the association aims to network IPT therapists in order to facilitate an active exchange and cooperation both in the field of patient care and in the field of science.
