About me

The population of Oxytocin synthesizing neurons in the rodent brain is relatively small and direct innervation of distant structures is quite sparse. Nevertheless, an experimental release of OT in the distant structures usually results in the robust facilitation of various components of social behavioral. My scientific curiosity is related to the question about how OT-sensitive local microcircuits in various brain structures (like ventral hippocampus, dorso-medial prefrontal cortex, entorhinal cortex) are arranged. What neuron types/classes are they made of and whether they bear common neuroanatomical features?
